Produce Design
May 16, 2008
I just love this Suture Bench with storage by Produce Design…. with oxidized ash and carbon steel handles and sutures.

They also make a really cool pot and pan rack.
A reclaimed beam is milled for a magnetic knife holder and fins that hang pots below. Trays in the top accommodate the knife magnet, lid storage, and spice storage and display.

Jennifer Maestre
May 16, 2008
Jennifer Maestre is making some incredible jewelry using colored pencils and epoxy.

She also makes sculptures…

Floor Decal
May 15, 2008
I am extremely sick of wall decals….however I just saw a decal used on the floor over at ApartmentTherapy and thought that was a good alternative to a large rug (and probably cheaper).

Bedside Saddle
May 15, 2008
Tired of stuffing your magazines, remotes, ipods, and other before bed essentials under the bed? Keep these items off the floor and close at hand in our bedside saddle. This soft faux leather saddle fits snuggly between the mattress and the bed frame. Magazines, journals, electronics, and other items can be neatly tucked away inside the saddle’s five pockets.

Ceramic Bird Dish
May 14, 2008
Overall I’m over the bird phase, however, every once in awhile one still catches my eye…

@ Chair
May 14, 2008
Designer Brodie Neil will be showcasing three new designs at the rubin chapelle boutique in new york during the upcoming new york design week. My favorite is the @ Chair, a continuous morphing loop in the form of a single seating chair.

EvaSolo Ashtray
May 14, 2008
For not liking smoking, I have a strange fascination with ashtrays….my latest one is the EvaSolo Ashtray.
Ash tray in steel and black silicone rubber.
Squeeze the rubber and the buts fall into the steel container.

Nightstand
May 13, 2008
I don’t know anything about it (perhaps one of you will), but I really like how they’ve used this stand/bench as a nightstand.

Clock
May 13, 2008
There’s a lot of clocks out there, that if you ask me, go out of their way to be modern. I prefer a more understated modern, like the Max Bill Clock by Ameico.

Algue
May 13, 2008
The nimble Algue element reproduces a delicate branching effect reminiscent of algae twigs. The individual elements are joined together, creating an airy and light structure that can be extended in all directions. The modular character offers many decorative and application possibilities. The amorphous design lets the room divider appear like a growing, natural object.

Baby Shower Gift
May 13, 2008
Sure you could always get some cutesy thing for the baby as a baby shower gift, but I prefer these ‘on duty, off duty’ pillow cases.
This funny, reversible pillowcase set is the perfect way to help sleep deprived new parents avoid late night misunderstanding about who’s turn it really is. Embroidery on one side reads: On Duty; on the other Off Duty…

On Duty, Off Duty - New Parent Pillowcases
Küpe
May 12, 2008
The Küpe line of furniture is crafted from used bourbon barrels from Bardstown, Kentucky, the Bourbon Capital of the world. The barrels are constructed from new white oak and charred on the inside to produce the unique flavor and color of the bourbon. These barrels are only used one time to age bourbon, after which some are sold and shipped to Scotland to make scotch. The remaining barrels are discarded by the distillery and often sold for firewood or planters.

Porcelain Flowers
May 12, 2008
Delicate, hand-formed white porcelain flowers will add charm to a tabletop or wall space. Each bloom is intricately sculpted of the whitest unglazed porcelain to create a lifelike appearance. Individual matte flowers sit flat on a table surface and look great in groupings or singly as paperweights.

Cork Stool
May 12, 2008
I was checking out Julieanne Moore’s decorating skills over at Domino and the cork stool in the living room caught my eye. I also liked the idea of mounting a bookshelf on the wall for an entry console.

Concrete Art
May 12, 2008
Transparent House has “created a way to refine a popular element of contemparary interior design such as polished concrete flooring. The design concept allows for application of any pattern to the surface either when pouring or afterwards when the concrete has set. The fine floral ornament promotes the clean and simple charactoer of the space while adding a touch of warm and live contrast and highlighting the cold austerity of the material.”

CMU Planters
May 9, 2008
Check out these cmu planters that Jon over at Happy Mundane posted from the Garden Show at South Coast Plaza.

Trinity
May 9, 2008
Make up tools and cosmetics can be neatly organized and readily accessed in the Trinity carrier just by turning the tray. A convenient handle even lets you carry it around.

Anti Fly
May 9, 2008
Inspired by the Mexican tradition of scaring off flies by hanging clear bags from the ceiling of taco kiosks on the streets designer Jose Delao created the slick “Anty Fly.”. The refraction of the water, amplifies the colors and movements for the sensible eyes of a fly reflected on this sphere, scaring it away.

Horizontal Fencing
May 8, 2008
I don’t think I’ve shared with you how I’m obsessed with horizontal fencing.

but this one I just saw at apartment therapy has to be my favorite. I just love how they used two different thickness woods. It’s just stunning…

Care to guess?
May 8, 2008

Yeah, so apparently it’s a computer, the Enlighten Computer by Suissa.
Because of its unique form factor, Enlighten comes with a technology package slightly different than the rest of the Suissa collection.
Enlighten’s design dissipates heat through the use of aluminum around the power supply and DVD drive and through careful venting of air into, around and out of the main housing. By separating the power supply and DVD out of the main housing, we have been able to avoid a cascading heat effect found in many computer designs.
Lois Aronow Porcelain
May 8, 2008
The Naked City Series by Lois Aronow has a beaded textured glaze that was applied over a slip or engobe. The beady-ness (reticulation) is a result of careful glaze formulation, application and firing.
