Snapalarm

October 21, 2009

Snapalarm by Michael Olsson and Rickard Grönstedt is clicked into place, with no need for tools, on the cord of a pendant lamp, rod or chain. Snapalarm recieved the international red dot design award in 2005.

Via DesignFlute, I found out about designer screen printed solar cells. ‘Instead of mounting the solar module on the roof, it could be integrated in the glass façade of a building. It is possible to produce it in desired colours, print images or text on the module.’

‘Newly available in the United States, this minimalist wall-mounted CD player features a single speaker built into the player’s case. Sleek and functional, the player’s power cord hangs straight down and turns the unit on and off with a simple tug.’

Wireless Earphones

August 12, 2008

I have a pair of wireless earphones, but they are the kind that wrap around the back of my head and I kind of hate them. I’d much prefer this pair which look to be similiar to ear buds and they are a lot cheaper than the pair I currently have….if only I had known…

The No-Contact Jacket is a wearable defensive jacket created to aid women in their struggle for protection from violence. When activated by the wearer, 80,000 volts of low amperage electric current pulses just below the surface shell of the entire jacket. This exo-electric armor prevents any person from unauthorized contact with the wearer’s body. If an assailant were to grab hold of the wearer the high voltage exterior would interrupt their neurological impulses which control voluntary muscle movement. The neuromuscular system would be overwhelmed causing disorientation and loss of balance to occur and of course pain. The pain experienced is non-lethal but is enough to effectively and immediately deter contact with the wearer and provide a critical life saving oppurtunity for escape.

USB Phone Charger

May 29, 2008

I have problems with keeping my cell phone charged, especially now that I’m carpooling and can’t charge it while I drive, and I don’t know why but I never think to plug it in when I’m at home. This USB phone charger is light and compact and has an auto-retract design so it doesn’t get tangled up like a regular charger and is easy to carry, so I can charge my phone while I sit at my computer.

USB Cell

May 21, 2008

Ok…I may be ridiculously behind on things…but I didn’t realize they made these…

The USBCELL is a NiMH AA cell can be used like a normal battery and can be recharged simply by plugging into a USB port.

Care to guess?

May 8, 2008

Yeah, so apparently it’s a computer, the Enlighten Computer by Suissa.

Because of its unique form factor, Enlighten comes with a technology package slightly different than the rest of the Suissa collection.

Components that differ are:

Enlighten’s design dissipates heat through the use of aluminum around the power supply and DVD drive and through careful venting of air into, around and out of the main housing.  By separating the power supply and DVD out of the main housing, we have been able to avoid a cascading heat effect found in many computer designs.

Powermate

May 2, 2008

PowerMate functions beautifully as a convenient volume knob and mute button for music listening on your PC or Mac. But that’s just the beginning of PowerMate’s possibilities. Edit movies just like the pros with PowerMate functioning as your very own Jog/Shuttle wheel. PowerMate makes editing anything from home movies to your next demo a breeze. It even comes preset to work with iMovie, FinalCut Pro and GarageBand right out of the box!

But the real power of PowerMate is its programmable driver. You can quickly and easily program it to execute any Key Command, in any application.

PowerMate

I posted in the past about the Belkins Conserve Surge Protector that is available this summer that allows you to completely shut off the power to devices that consume standby power with a handy remote control, but the Power Cost Controller Power Strip allows you to monitor its large LCD display to count consumption and cost by the kilowatt-hour, same as your local utility. Monitor your electric consumption by hour, day, week, month, even an entire year. Also check the quality of your power by monitoring voltage, line frequency, and power factor.

Charger DVR

April 24, 2008

I’m a bit of a control freak….so this little camera instantly had me thinking how I could see what is going on at my house when I’m not there

The Charger DVR plugs into a standard outlet and records up to 66 hours of audio video in 2GB Micro SD card. It also has a built in lithium battery for when it’s not connected to the outlet. The lithium battery will provide 3 hours of audio video.

miShare

April 24, 2008

miShare is a smart little gadget for sharing files and playlists between iPods. No computer or cable is needed, and it’s super easy to use. Just attach the source and target iPods and press miShare’s big button to start the transfer.

miShare does not currently work with the distinctive disk format of the iPhone or iPod Touch

The Docking Entertainment System by Philips lets you enjoy DVDs and iPod videos on an 9″ color widescreen. Featuring a retractable adaptor for iPod and built-in SD/MMC card slots, you can view DivX movies or digital photos from multiple sources.  Of course, this would be much nicer if it came in a larger version.

Snooze

April 10, 2008

Here’s another concept design by Laurence Willmott. I especially like this one since I know many people who us their cell phone as their alarm

Research showed that 85% of people use their mobile phones as alarm clocks. ‘Snooze’ is a basic mobile phone with a secondary designed function – an alarm clock.

I really hate those bluetooth phones stuck in everyones ears these days but Yves Behar has created a line of limited edition headsets that look as good as you can get walking around with something stuck in your ear.
