Paul Koh Toggle Key Switch

December 8, 2009

I had seen these light switch plates awhile ago but I don’t believe they were actually on sale then. Now Bobby Berk Home is selling them.

However, every light switch near an entry in my house has more than one switch. Hopefully they come out with a multi one soon.

Lilli Light

December 11, 2008

I’ve posted before about side tables & desks that double as a book mark but this one has the added bonus of having a light. Not to mention that the light contains a sensor that turns off the light when an open book is placed on the shelf. When the book is picked up again,
the light automatically turns on. Lili Lite also has a switch to turn the light on and off manually.

The Letter Holder

Fanaway

July 16, 2008

Fanaway by Joe Villella is a retracting blade ceiling fan. When switched off the fan blades automatically retract and conceal, visually transforming the unit into a slim, modern light pendant. Turning on the fan creates a centrifugal force which deploys the blades to circulate air within a room.

Fanaway is currently being manufactured by Beacon Lighting and tested for standards approval. All 60 Beacon Lighting stores will be selling FANAWAY® by mid 2008.

Solar Shoji Lanterns

June 4, 2008

Solar Powered!! I hate having to drape extension cords everywhere, which is why these caught my eye…

Hang this Japanese-inspired solar-powered lantern from a trellis or tree and enjoy its moonlike radiance. Yellow LED lights are encased in paper-like, weatherproofed nylon and automatically switch on at night. Includes AAA rechargeable battery and metal hanger. Folds flat for storage.

oboiler

June 2, 2008

oboiler has a couple designs that caught my eye….

first was the side table constructed using no hardware

then this lace tape…which I just love on the plain brown box for mailing

and finally the Protea pendant….Apparently when the bulb is off and cold the shade will hug the bulb closely, but when the light is turned on and the bulb heats up the ‘petals’ move away from the hot bulb.

LightCap 200

May 28, 2008

This small, lightweight (just 2.6oz) cap fits on any ‘standard’ water bottle (2” wide mouth) such as Nalgene®, Camelbak®, GSI® and most others, turning your bottle into a solar-powered lantern.

Ikea pendant hack

I just saw this DIY hack of an ikea pendant light over at design sponge. As always, I wish I had an Ikea by me.

Glo Pillow

May 20, 2008

I have a problem with snoozing….to the point that I almost always wake up in a panicked rush and feel about half sick as I run around trying to get ready, so the glo Pillow caught my eye. It is an alternative to the traditional alarm clock. The pillow uses an LED fabric substrate below the surface to wake the user using light. This substrate also functions as a display, showing the time on the pillows surface using the grid of LEDs below. 40 minutes before the pre-set alarm time the pillow begins to glow and gently brings the user out of sleep. This natural waking process helps to set the circadian rhythm or “body clock” and results in more healthy sleep/wake patterns.

The Metropoli works as either a ceiling fixture or wall sconce and suits a wide range of interiors small and large, residential and commercial. Use one Metropoli in the bathroom or closet, or use multiples in a hallway or restaurant. The Polished version, made from a polished aluminum body and glass diffuser, can withstand damp environments with indirect moisture, making it an apt choice for the bathroom or covered outdoor space.

Yet

April 28, 2008

The modular wall holder Yet is a wall lamp with special features. The ends of two or more Yets touch in a way that creates a kind of shelf-object. This lamp’s construction can carry a small load of accessories or a couple of books.

I was looking over at Grassroots Modern and saw their link to make a lamp using an old  washing machine barrel, which looks surprisingly attractive.

Drum Lampshades

Towel Storage

March 20, 2008

I liked this idea for towel storage/light, but not as much as the storage shelf I posted here….. in addition, you would have to make this one since the picture is from the new room designs for the Motel 6

Anta’s Zac Light

March 13, 2008

Created by Berlin designer-artist Frank Oehring, Anta’s Zac light defines adjustability. A 7-millimeter fluorescent tube sends light through apertures in the satin-chrome table lamp, forming soft ribbons of glow.
