I don’t usually like many kitchen appliances enough to put them on this site, but the hand mixer by Philips is an exception.

Design*Sponge trivet

June 11, 2009

I really liked this cute trivet that I saw over at Design*Sponge. They have a tutorial if you follow the link. It seems simple enough…not that I’ll ever get around to it.

Pipette Bottles

Camilla Kropp’s innovative take on an instrument that is usually used in laboratories and pharmacies is perfect for storing condiments such as oil, vinegar and soy sauce. Use the pipette to measure out exactly how much of each condiment you want.

Lazy Utensils

July 2, 2008

The SpoonSisters have an interesting take on utensils. This spoon rests comfortably on the edge of your pot waiting patiently for you to stir or serve. Beautifully crafted from Wild Cherry Wood. Lazy Ladle also rests comfortably on the edge of a pot waiting patiently for you to stir or serve.

Sunken Kitchen with Bar

June 26, 2008

So I was looking at interiors yesterday and saw this sunken kitchen. The kitchen is fine, but what really caught my eye was the way they made the bar counter low to the floor and put cushions at it. I’m not a fan of high stools and thought this was a really great alternative.

GE Caulk Singles

June 23, 2008

Being someone who has a house that requires its fair share of renovation and who hates caulking guns, I’m completely smitten with GE’s new caulk singles.

“GE Caulk Singles, single-use disposable packages of caulk, reinvent the caulking experience for the consumer by putting an end to caulk guns and hard-to-use squeeze tubes. With its deceptively simple, yet ingeniously engineered packaging, Caulk Singles dispense effortlessly with one hand, require no tools, and leave essentially no waste in the package.”

Folding Colander

May 23, 2008

My kitchen storage is a mess, so anything that may simplify it catches my interest.

12 polypropylene living hinges are incorporated in the design of the Folding Colander so that, when you put it away, it can be folded completely flat for easy storage.

Produce Design

May 16, 2008

I just love this Suture Bench with storage by Produce Design…. with oxidized ash and carbon steel handles and sutures.

They also make a really cool pot and pan rack.

A reclaimed beam is milled for a magnetic knife holder and fins that hang pots below. Trays in the top accommodate the knife magnet, lid storage, and spice storage and display.

Pig Lid

May 7, 2008

I found this amusing….and functional

Made of soft silicone with a pig face in the center, this multipurpose lid can be placed directly over ingredients in a pot to help them cook evenly, releasing steam through the pig’s snout. It can also be used to cover food in the microwave, and as a grip to open lids.

Radiator Mug

May 1, 2008

“the radiator mug designed by stephen reed is a refreshing departure from the traditional handle-style mug. instead of relying on that handle to allow you to hold a hot beverage, the radiator’s stylish and functional fins do the trick, providing just enough contact to keep your hand warm”

Darumina Canister

April 24, 2008

I currently hide my canisters away in a cabinet because they are your run of the mill, ugly plastic containers. These however, I would let grace my counters…

The canisters were designed in 1967 by Sergio Asti. He originally designed it as a table lamp. The beautiful Darumina canister has a beautiful organic shape with rounded edges. It is made of high quality Japanese porcelain.

DaysAgo Digital Counter

April 16, 2008

If your refrigerator is anything like mine then this handy little device might be for you…

The DaysAgo Digital Counter tracks exactly how many days leftover containers have been in the refrigerator or freezer. It can also be used to keep track of how long it’s been since the air filter has been changed or how many days ago your plants were watered.

Dishware

April 14, 2008

I liked this Porcelain French Fry Pouch. I don’t know how much you’d actually use it but the wrapper is life-size and artfully captures the creases, folds and shape of the real wrapper.

On the same site was this nestling sandwich and soup bowl tray. The ceramic combo lets you end the precarious balancing act of enjoying your favorite quick and comfy meal.

Kubo Shelf

April 9, 2008

I just saw this shelf over at apartmenttherapy. I like it as a nightstand but I like the idea of using it in the kitchen for cookbooks and what-not even more.

Eleek

April 8, 2008

I love this countertop. They are 100-percent recycled aluminum tiles from Eleek, and they are rather expensive, starting at $95 a square foot. So I’ll just post them on here so I can come back from time to time to drool.

Hotholder

April 2, 2008

Here are two contraptions that I thought looked pretty useful. I hate when you use a regular oven mitt to get a dish out of the oven and you have to practically stick it into the food to get a good grip on the dish. If these actually hold without slipping they would be much nicer than a cloth oven mitt.

Index Chopping Boards

March 20, 2008

I’m a stickler for making sure my chicken is always cut on the same cutting board….so I can appreciate these Index Chopping Boards from the MOMA store….of course if you want to be really anal they are stored in awful close proximity to one another….

Backsplash

March 11, 2008

So when I was looking at kitchens I was on Ikea’s website and I saw this kitchen….

Photobucket

and when I went to the “products that make this style” tab, it listed fabric. Wondering what fabric was in the kitchen, I clicked on it to find they had used fabric as their backsplash?? Which has me wondering if there is something you can do to fabric to make it water resistant seeing how this is the only way you’d be able to use it as a backsplash…. perhaps behind a clear piece of glass??
