The Spring Chair by Anthony Marschak for Modern Bamboo, ‘derives its gentle motion from the inherent strength and flexibility of bamboo, and provides a unique respond to the weight and movement of each individual. The chair is a single sinuous ribbon of 100 percent laminated bamboo, gently contoured and tapered to fit the body. The curved form and the characteristic texture of bamboo are perfect complements.

Lester

Lester is a deckchair with fine leather upholstery by Soda Designers. Creating their latest piece was a response to an invitation issued as part of Vienna Design Week to develop a free project for Wittmann Möbelwerkstätten. Designers Nada Nasrallah and Christian Horner have come up with a chair that can be locked in three different positions and is just 10cm thick when folded.

Cloud is an upholstered easy chair by Lisa Widen for DesignHouse Stockholm which will be available in Fall of 2008. The chair is completely adjustable so that the seat can become the back support and vice versa.

Ny Rocking Chair

Design Within Reach carries the Ny Rocking Chair and Ottoman  which was designed by Takeshi Nii in 1958, after he was inspired by an ad for a director’s chair in an archival magazine from the 1930s. At only 14.5 lbs, the Ny folds into a compact 5.5″ form that can stand on its own discreetly in the corner, or be easily picked up and moved wherever an extra lounge chair needed.

Folding Wine Barrel Chair

I don’t think this necessarily looks the most comfortable, but I like look and the fact that it folds.

Reminiscent of a steamer deck chair, our folding barrel stave chair is made from salvaged 70-gallon oak wine barrels. When folded, the slats nest alongside one another, making the chair as flat as a comma. Individually numbered with the name of the winery branded under the seat. For those who don’t like to be alone, there’s also a bench variety.
