Lester

July 9, 2008

Lester is a deckchair with fine leather upholstery by Soda Designers. Creating their latest piece was a response to an invitation issued as part of Vienna Design Week to develop a free project for Wittmann Möbelwerkstätten. Designers Nada Nasrallah and Christian Horner have come up with a chair that can be locked in three different positions and is just 10cm thick when folded.

Beau Bench

June 30, 2008

Using traditional construction methods and beautiful materials, the beau seat is designed to maximize comfort and beauty in its naturally flowing form.

I don’t think this necessarily looks the most comfortable, but I like look and the fact that it folds.

Reminiscent of a steamer deck chair, our folding barrel stave chair is made from salvaged 70-gallon oak wine barrels. When folded, the slats nest alongside one another, making the chair as flat as a comma. Individually numbered with the name of the winery branded under the seat. For those who don’t like to be alone, there’s also a bench variety.

Nautic Folding Seat

June 3, 2008

I have an entry where you’d like something to sit down on to take off your shoes and what not but it’s not wide enough to put anything. I recently saw this Nautic Folding Seat and thought it would be perfect.

@ Chair

May 14, 2008

Designer Brodie Neil will be showcasing three new designs at the rubin chapelle boutique in new york during the upcoming new york design week.  My favorite is the @ Chair, a continuous morphing loop in the form of a single seating chair.

Cork Stool

May 12, 2008

I was checking out Julieanne Moore’s decorating skills over at Domino and the cork stool in the living room caught my eye. I also liked the idea of mounting a bookshelf on the wall for an entry console.

Flocks Pouf

May 6, 2008

I actually saw the Flocks Pouf awhile ago but never got around to posting it, and after finding the picture of Meindertsma actually knitting the pouf, I may be inclined to think it’s actually worth the price.

Using extra-large knitting needles produced specifically for her enterprise, Christien Meindertsma’s Flocks Pouf (2006) is hand-knit using strong wool from New Zealand crossbred sheep. The result is a uniquely textured pouf that will bring a sense of craft to your space. The pouf is available in two sizes (medium: light grey, large: dark grey) to accommodate use as a seat, occasional table, ottoman or even as a purely organic sculpture.

This bench is also a coffee table, a storage unit, and a shelf. Solid pine frame houses three drawers to conveniently store anything from gloves and scarves to DVDs, plus a roomy and decorative shelf to store smaller items within easy reach. Moveable bent tray slides horizontally or can be removed completely.
