Pictures

September 16, 2008

I have a problem with hanging pictures, and I have the blank walls to prove it. So I’ve been collecting inspirations for the day I get brave enough to pick up my hammer and actually hang something. Thought I’d share them with you, in case any one else has my problem.

Wonderful Graffiti is a fantastic play on wall decals. The have some typography examples that would be great for weddings.

Tin Can Wall

May 30, 2008

I was just blown away by this wall with tin can tops applied to it over at Apartmenttherapy. The creative re-use was for a bedroom suite decorated by White Webb in this year’s Kips Bay Decorator Show House in New York.

Livability

March 5, 2008

I love design that is open and clean yet still livable. For example, HGTV showed a home that was modern and open but has sectional sofas that pull out into two single beds that can be pushed together to make one larger bed. The flat screen TV is suspended from the ceiling in the middle of the space and swivels 360-degrees to be viewed from anywhere in the apartment. There’s entire wall of closets for storage, and when desired the bedroom can be sectioned off with a double curtain. One layer is a sheer curtain, which creates a nice soft see-through effect; the second layer is a special light and sound-blocking solid curtain. There’s also a office area that can be closed off when not in use.

handcut of vintage wallpaper….but if you have some artistic abilities I think you could easily paint this and use wallpaper samples to create the leaves…..the little birdhouse light really finishes it off perfectly….
