Sliding-top Coffee Table

July 18, 2008

A sliding top reveals valuable hidden storage space in West Elm’s new Sliding-top Coffee Table. They also have a Sliding Media Stand.

Conseta Furniture

June 16, 2008

The Conseta sofabed unfolds on telescopic runners to become a roomy double bed complete with a spacious linen box, base, mattress and pillows. Click on the link to see an animation of the bed opening and closing.

Conseta also has a low table, however, my need for hidden storage stops me from buying anything like this, but that doesn’t mean that I can’t appreciate it.

Self-Destruct Table

June 4, 2008

A definite “limited edition”, this table will self-destruct. The top of the table is structured as a grid of concrete pixels. Each time a new table is produced, one pixel is removed from the design. Following these rules of self-destruction, the shape becomes more intricate as it diminishes. This project converges elements of mass production and handmade craftsmanship, resulting in a limited edition series of entirely unique tables that will continue until the shape is no longer practical.

oboiler

oboiler has a couple designs that caught my eye….

first was the side table constructed using no hardware

then this lace tape…which I just love on the plain brown box for mailing

and finally the Protea pendant….Apparently when the bulb is off and cold the shade will hug the bulb closely, but when the light is turned on and the bulb heats up the ‘petals’ move away from the hot bulb.

Nightstand

May 13, 2008

I don’t know anything about it (perhaps one of you will), but I really like how they’ve used this stand/bench as a nightstand.

Thomas Owen

Thomas Owen is a product designer from Bedford, England, and he has come up with some really great ideas.

‘One’ Folding Bike

A bicycle that folds into a light and compact case free of all dirty and protruding parts, it also comes with a power assist to allow you to cruise around with ease.

Hairdryer

A hairdryer that can stand on its own when not in use, instead of left twisted on the floor. The cable can then be coiled around itself to be stored more practically. (assuming the stand doesn’t get in the way when you actually blow drying your hair….)

Behouden Clock

The Behouden clock not only tells the time but the household electrical output in hopes that if the user is aware how much energy and money they are wasting their behaviour should change.

The Tall CU side table by Kristalia is functional as a table, bench, or service top… use next to a sofa or near a bed. Suitable for outdoor use.

Shea Console II

March 17, 2008

This console can be used on it’s own but I prefer it paired with the Shea Sectional, which has a cutout in the back to nest the console table, creating the illusion that the console is a part of the sectional.

Laptop Coffe Table

March 17, 2008

I love the idea of the coffee tables where the top raises to desk height (I eat a lot in front of the television), but up until now every one I had found was way too traditional for my liking. Now Dwell has one that suites my tastes.

Television Panel System

Since my sister didn’t like the last plasma tv stand I showed her perhaps she’ll like this one better?….

Nice Bench

March 13, 2008

I have a thing for benches that can be used for seating and/or  tables, probably because I lack seating in my house and I like the dual use. I like this one especially because of the hollow middle where I could hide things out of sight.

Datumzero Low Tables

March 13, 2008

Datumzero is an array of limited Sculptural pieces; created by layering various wood types. I really like the hidden drawer at one end. It comes in three variations, the Jimmy, Ruthie, and the Gabi. I like the look of the Jimmy best but the hollow center of the Gabi. (what is odd is the pictures on their website look like they’re created in some 3D rendering program  but you can purchase them for $1,417.00)
