Vintage Belt Floor Mat

September 2, 2008

This handsome, handmade floor mat, by Inghua Ting, is made of artfully assembled vintage leather belts that have been rescued on their way from waist to waste. Its rich tones, textures, and tread-friendly patina evoke the look of a wonderfully worn wood floor, albeit with a decidedly warmer under-foot feel. Each Vintage Belt Floor Mat is a one-of-a-kind creation, and as such, colors and characteristics will vary slightly from those pictured.

Stella Rug

The Stella felt rug is a gorgeous design by Michelle Mason. Available in cream or black.

Floor Decal

I am extremely sick of wall decals….however I just saw a decal used on the floor over at ApartmentTherapy and thought that was a good alternative to a large rug (and probably cheaper).

Concrete Art

May 12, 2008

Transparent House has “created a way to refine a popular element of contemparary interior design such as polished concrete flooring. The design concept allows for application of any pattern to the surface either when pouring or afterwards when the concrete has set. The fine floral ornament promotes the clean and simple charactoer of the space while adding a touch of warm and live contrast and highlighting the cold austerity of the material.”

Floor Cushion

April 30, 2008

Oh I’ve liked the idea of floor cushions for extra seating for awhile but all the options were rather expensive. However, this Japanese Cushion is perfectly in my price range (not sure what that says for the quality). They are handmade and filled with all-natural kapok (a vegetable fiber from seed pods).

I also like this option from west elm….of course they cost a lot more…but these you can use outdoors
