The Perdur lid to this tape dispenser by Norman Foster pushed the tape up for use. When removed, the tape sinks down, allowing the box to be covered by the lid.

‘You can open it the Balancing Act Waste Bin by Eva Solo from any point around the rim and the lid is designed so that when it’s flipped up, it balances on the rim until you tip it closed. It’s a little bit magic and kind of makes throwing trash away fun.’

Planters

August 6, 2008

I’d seen the round over the balcony planters awhile ago but wasn’t taken with them enough to post them. Now I see they have a square and rectanglar version that I like a lot better.

Wood Placemats

August 5, 2008

So I posted the Wood Coasters the other day and saw that the same site sold Wood Placements. I liked the coasters better and didn’t think about the placemats again until I saw a post on Apartment Therapy showing them used as a window treatment.

AT lists the source of the wood placemats as Hygge, however the ones I found are by Sarah Finn and they look very similiar to me.

Wood Laser-Cut Coasters

August 4, 2008

‘Sarah Finn brings her architectural sensibility and woodworkers skills to the humble coaster, playing with flowers and patterns to create this coaster set. Laser cut and stained, these dark chunks of ornamented wood provide a base for the libation of your choice. Sturdy (even though they look delicate), and wipeable. Set of 8 (two of each design).’

Space Grill

August 1, 2008

The unique, swing-out grill system comprises of two heavy-gauge stainless steel grills that height-adjust for different cooking temps. On the top grill, sit a serving dish, a saucepan or use as a back-up cooking or warming grill. The larger main grill swings out to enable quick fuel top-ups. Underneath the bowl is an integral ash collector and adjustable ventilation system. It also has an eco-friendly bamboo chopping board and built-in hooks for tools.

LapDawg

July 30, 2008

The LapDawg can easily change its shape to suit a wide variety of functions such as a laptop holder, breakfast table, study table, bed desk, or as a lap desk. One side is equipped with a slip-resistant surface that keeps your laptop secure no matter the angle, plus a soft rubber comfort rest for your wrists. Flip it over and you have a smooth place to work comfortably with a raised, rounded edge to prevent those pesky pens and pencils from running away.

Swemug

July 23, 2008

Swemug is a handmade coffee or tea mug with a built-in shelf for a cookie or a tea bag! Don’t know how practical it really is since you’d have to watch which side of the mug you were drinking out of so that you didn’t make a mess, but interesting never-the-less.

I just came upon Christian Lessing’s ‘Clamping Strip’. I don’t know if it can be purchased but I loved the idea of using it for the trim around a door to provide hidden storage.

Paulistano chair

July 15, 2008

Designed in 1957 by Mendes da Rocha, Winner of the Pritzker Architecture Prize 2006, the Paulistano chair is a Brazilian version of a Bauhaus classic. The Paulistano is made of a 17-foot single bended steel bar. Its leather cover, made almost from an entire hide of leather, gains depth and luster over the years and procures to this chair an amazing esthetical lightness. Extremely comfortable, the Paulistano slightly flexes and can be adjusted for upright or relaxed sitting positions by shifting the leather sling up or down the frame.
