Ice Laterns – Update

January 8, 2009

So it was finally cold enough for my ice latern balloons to freeze and they looked fanastic once I took the balloon off. However, when I tried to light a tea light beneath it, the lack of oxygen put out the flame immediately. Any thoughts?

You need an air hole more or less. If you look at most molds the candle sits in a shaft within the ice, it’s open on top for air but tall on the sides to protect it from being blown out. Flip your frozen mold upside down then put the candle in it.
