Paulistano chair

July 15, 2008

Designed in 1957 by Mendes da Rocha, Winner of the Pritzker Architecture Prize 2006, the Paulistano chair is a Brazilian version of a Bauhaus classic. The Paulistano is made of a 17-foot single bended steel bar. Its leather cover, made almost from an entire hide of leather, gains depth and luster over the years and procures to this chair an amazing esthetical lightness. Extremely comfortable, the Paulistano slightly flexes and can be adjusted for upright or relaxed sitting positions by shifting the leather sling up or down the frame.
